vWelcome to Team Varsity's Announcement Page.v

This upcoming Friday students will be enjoying a MAP Incentive Party to celebrate the end of this year’s state MAP testing. As part of the party, students will have the opportunity to participate in Knockerball (also known as Bubble Soccer). In order to participate in Knockerball students must bring a signed release of liability waiver with them to school on Friday. Waivers may be obtained from an info table in the lunchroom, through

End of the Year Awards Criteria

Congress Parents,

We are going to base our end of the year awards for the Congress Awards Assembly on the following point system.  Please talk about this with your student and encourage them to earn as many points as possible.

Cumulative GPA after third quarter:  3.0 to 3.49 is 1 point, 3.5 to 3.85 is 2 points, 3.86 to 4.0 is 3 points

Only kids with a 3.0 or better for the first three quarters combined will be considered for any award.

School participation or community service is worth 1 point.  There is only one point available for this category.  Students can pick either a school participation activity or do 5 hours of community service.

Any involvement at Congress that is not required for a class counts for school participation.
School participation opportunities could include, but are not limited to, the list below.

School play-tried out or were in (not attended)

National Junior Honor Society- applied or were in

Students will fill out an online form with this information in April. We will have the link available in teams’ websites and social media pages and will announce it on the morning announcements as time comes. Keep in mind community service does not have to be through a formal organization. Helping neighbors and extended family is encouraged.

Attendance 90% of school days or better is 1 point.

No ISS/OSS is 1 point

2 points get a blue ribbon

3 points gets a bronze medal

4 points gets a silver medal

5 points gets a gold medal

6 points gets platinum

Invitations will be sent home with students who qualify for an award in May.

If you have any questions regarding these criteria or the awards assembly in general, please feel free to contact Beth Weishaar (7th grade counselor) or Bridgett Sissel (8th grade counselor).
